Brown as a honey ant
in an abandoned forest
scurrying to forage some leaves and grains
on a cold September night
trying,
to the best of its capabilities,
to survive the fierce upcoming storm.
Thematized purple emails when
laptops beep
and young girls in love
eagerly rush,
jumping up and down enthusiastically;
impatiently checking to see
if the world wide web brought them
any news
of their sweethearts.
Voraciously painful red
as this hand that bleeds
because of the marks he left there.
The gentle feeding of the grapes
and then the biting
and then, seclusion.
Inevitably white
as these nurses in gowns
checki the health of a woman in agony
“He’s fine! Your baby is fine!
now keep pushing!”
And yet, the room continues to reek of sweat.
And then, nothing
but pitch-black darkness
and a single hat:
Stiff, Sturdy and Solid.
loudly displaying three distinct letters:
B.M.W.
