Hot Ants | 2010

In the summer of 2010 I wrote a series of short poems which I compiled into a Visual Sketchbook. This is Entry #10

A well-disciplined troop

of some small and some big

each following the next

down into a deep chasm

into the earth’s brown belly

carrying not leaves,

not seeds,

not timber,

nor even anything useful

in any way to these tireless workers

who form a long symmetric chain

transporting tiny pungent peppers;

for perhaps they too found  that this world

is a little too spicy to exist in.
